On a gold metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in width blazoned as follows: Gules, a bend Azure (Dark Blue), on a canton of the last, a magnolia blossom Argent. Attached below the shield, a gold scroll inscribed “MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY” in Dark Blue letters.

Symbolism

The colors red, blue, and gold are adapted from the Mississippi State Flag, which was updated in 2020. This particular magnolia blossom is also taken from the updated flag design. However, the magnolia has been a long-used symbol in the state used to represent the hospitality of its citizens. The colors blue and red refer back to the United States Flag, while the gold stripes denote the artistic heritage of the state.
