Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
A shield shaped device 3 inches (7.62 cm) in height and 2 3/8 inches (6.03 cm) in width overall, consisting of a red shield edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border, issuing from the viewer's left the black and white head and neck of a husky; on its neck a yellow monogrammed "N I".

Symbolism
Red (cardinal) and black are the colors of the university. The Husky is representative of the dedication of the SROTC cadets in their quest for education. The monogrammed "N I" is self-explanatory.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 23 April 1974. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-202)

Description/Blazon
 A silver color metal enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in width consisting of the head of a husky, in profile, of black enamel and silver color metal surmounted in base by a silver color metal gauntleted fist grasping five yellow enamel lightning flashes, all inclosed in base by a three segment red enamel scroll inscribed "DUCTUS" on the dexter segment, "PER" on the center segment and "SCIENTIAM" on the sinister segment in silver color metal letters.   

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 26 Mar 1970.
