Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
 On a black field a yellow demi-tiger springing affront detailed black highlighted white, pupils, mouth and tongue red, between a yellow arcing scroll above inscribed "TIGERS" and a yellow arcing scroll below inscribed "GRAMBLING " in black letters, all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border.  The overall dimensions are 3 1/4 inches (8.26 cm) in height by 2 3/4 inches (6.99 cm) in width.

Symbolism
 Black, gold (yellow) and red are the colors of the university.  The Tiger is the school mascot.  The aggressive movement implied in the tiger symbolizes the cadets' assertive pride in school, community and country.

 The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 14 November 1996.  (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S- 139)

Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Or semy of irregular wavy bendlets Sable a torch Gules.  Attached below the shield a gold scroll inscribed "GRAMBLING STATE UNIVERSITY" in black letters.  

Symbolism
The tiger striped shield suggests the school mascot, and is surmounted by a torch representing the cadets as torches of leadership through knowledge.

The shoulder loop insignia was 14 November 1996.
