Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a gray shield 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) and 3 inches (7.62 cm) in width overall, within a red embroidered border and the inscription "TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY" in red letters, a blue and gold brown embroidered representation of the Booker T. Washington Memorial (from the Tuskegee Institute Seal).

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 24 January 1956.   It was amended to change the white to gold brown and add subdued colors and metric measurements and update the description of the new design on 16 March 1992.  (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-82)




Shoulder Loop Insignia


Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel insignia 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall, consisting of a shield surmounted by a tripartite scroll bearing at top "VIRTUS" and at bottom left "TUSKEGEE" and on the right "INSTITUTE" inscribed in black letters.  The shield is divided per chevron gold and red with a gold lamp of knowledge in base.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 5 January 1987.
