Shoulder Sleeve Insignia
A purple circular insignia within an encircling yellow band edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) inch purple border, the overall diameter 3 inches (7.62 cm), on which is the yellow head of a tiger affront couped garnished black and white displaying a red tongue; on the band above the purple disc the inscription "BAYOU" and on the band below the inscription "BENGALS" all in purple letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height.
The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 19 July 1976.
Shoulder Loop Insignia
A silver color metal and enamel 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a medium blue enamel shield bearing two swords in saltire with blades up, blades silver, hilts and guards yellow enamel between a yellow enamel fleur-de-lis above an open silver book in perspective below. Attached below the shield a silver arced scroll inscribed "THE OLE WAR SKULE" in black enamel letters.
The shoulder loop insign1ia was authorized 24 May 1976.
