Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a white vertical rectangle arched convexly at top and bottom and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) red border, displaying cropped and in profile a red stylized falcon head, detailed white, silver gray and dark gray with a black eye. Attached above the rectangle, a white scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) red border inscribed "EAST RIVER" in red letters.  Attached below the rectangle, a white scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) red border inscribed "FALCONS" in red letters.  The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in length and 2 5/8 inches (6.67 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Scarlet, metallic silver and white are the school colors.  Scarlet represents courage, a virtue the cadets possess to conquer any task that is presented to them.  Metallic silver and white refer to perfection a characteristic the cadets reflect in the high standards they have for themselves.    Black reflects determination, a steadfast virtue the cadets have to accomplish their personal as well as academic endeavors.  The falcon (the school's mascot) and is symbolic of freedom and victory.

Description/Blazon
A silver colored metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height overall, consisting of a shield blazoned:  "Azure, perched upon a demi-column issuant from base, a falcon wings close reguardant, all Argent (Silver Gray)."  The shield is between two Silver palm branches; attached above the shield, a Red scroll inscribed "EAST RIVER H.S." in Silver letters and attached below the shield, a Red scroll inscribed "FALCONS" in Silver letters. 

Symbolism
Scarlet, metallic silver and white are the school colors.  Scarlet represents courage, a virtue the cadets possess to conquer any task that is presented to them.  Metallic silver and white refer to perfection, a characteristic the cadets reflect in the high standards they have for themselves.    Blue reflects loyalty, a virtue the cadets possess for each other and their country.  The falcon (the school's mascot) is symbolic of freedom and victory.  The ionic column alludes to fortitude and strength.  The palm leaves suggest victory and commemorate Florida's state tree; the palm tree.
