A shield shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Maroon border, blazoned as follows: Or, an Indian head faced to sinister Buff, hair and details Sanguine, war bonnet Argent, details of the third. Attached above the shield, a White scroll inscribed "FLANDREAU" in Maroon letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 7/8 inches (7.30 cm) in width.
Maroon and gold are the school colors. Maroon represents Mother Earth and signifies the cadets' respect and reverence for nature. Gold symbolizes the honor of being a cadet in the Indian Warrior Battalion. The shield shape alludes to the Indian Warrior, representing both past and present cadets of Flandreau Indian High School.
