Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
 On a blue vertical rectangle arched convexly at top and bottom and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) orange border, an orange stylized cougar's head and neck coming to a point in profile with white features and blue details.   Blue whiskers edging around the cougar's head, eyes, nose orange and mouth white fimbriated black,  all surmounting a white silhouette of a cougar's head.  Attached above the rectangle, a blue scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) orange border inscribed "DCHS" in white letters.  Attached below the rectangle, a blue scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) orange border inscribed "COUGARS" in white letters.  The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 3/8 inches (6.03 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Blue is symbolic of devotion, justice, loyalty and orange signifies endurance, pride and strength; they are the school colors.  The Cougar is the school's mascot and reflects the culture, pride, honor and loyalty of the cadet's military training.

Description/Blazon
On a Gold color metal and enameled device 1 1/8 inches (2.86cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Azure tierced in parl'e unequal by chains Or, in the first the winged foot of Hermes, in second a harlequin drama mask smiling debruised to a lyre and in third a lamp of knowledge inflamed, conjoined to dexter and sinister side two mountain lions prowling, all of the second. Attached above the shield a Blue scroll inscribed "DICKSON COUNTY" in Gold letters. Attached below the shield an Orange scroll inscribed "HIGH SCHOOL" in Gold letters.

Symbolism

The mask and lyre conjoined symbolize the arts. The lamp signifies truth in learning. The chains represent unity and strength. The Cougars are the school's mascot and reflects the culture, honor and loyalty of the cadet's military training.
