Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
 On a red vertical rectangle embroidered item rounded at base edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border, on which an 1/16 inch (.16 cm) inner white  border  displaying a white stylized ram's head with black details facing the viewer, his horns over lapping the inner white border.   Attached above the rectangle, a red scroll edged with 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border inscribed "SOUTH GATE" in white letters. The overall dimensions are 3 inches (7.62 cm) in height and 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Black and red are school colors. Black signifies the determination and dignity of the cadets.  Red represents patriotism and the courage to act responsibly and possess uncompromising integrity.  The Ram sheep is the school's mascot and reflects the strength, adaptability, intellect and bravery of the cadets.  The arched shape of the embroidered item symbolizes the Spanish architecture, as well as, the rich heritage of the school's predominately Spanish speaking student population.

Description/Blazon
A Silver metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Per fess Gules, the head and neck of  a Ram sheep couped; on a chief per pale the dexter Sable a Spanish conquistadors' helmet Argent and sinister a lamp flamant of the like.  Attached below the shield, a Black scroll inscribed "EXPERIENTIA DOCET" in Silver letters, which translates to "Experience Teaches" in English.
