Attached above the rectangle is a gold scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black inscribed "NORTH" in black letters. Attached below the rectangle is a gold scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border inscribed "GASTON" in black letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/4 inches (8.26 cm) in height and 2 3/8 inches (6.03 cm) in width.
Gold, black, white and red are the school's colors. Gold is associated with excellence, honor and intellect. Black symbolizes the cadet's sophistication and determination to succeed in all endeavors. White conveys truth and perfection. Red represents the cadet's courage, passion and zeal for patriotism. The school's mascot is a wildcat and embodies dauntless courage and bravery.
