On a red disc 3 inches (7.62 cm) in diameter overall, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border, a white disc bearing a cross of seven red stars, five vertical and two horizontal, between a red palm tree and a red citrus tree with white fruit; encircled by the inscription "FLORIDA SOUTHERN" above and "COLLEGE" below in white letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height.
Red and white are the colors associated with Florida Southern College. The stars represent the constellation of stars known as the Southern Cross, alluding to the name of the college. The trees suggest Lakeland, Florida, the home of the college.
