Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
A shield-shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8 (.32 cm) White border, blazoned as follows:  "Sanguine, a ram's head couped and in profile, facing to sinister Argent, garnished of the first."  The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 3 inches (7.62 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Maroon and white are the school colors.  The school's mascot is the ram. Maroon represents courage and boldness, two virtues the cadets show in their taking on any challenges or obstacles that come their way.  White signifies perfection, a trait the cadets reflect in taking on all their goals and accomplishments to the best of their abilities. The ram is symbolic of fearlessness and protection.

Description/Blazon
A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height overall, consisting of a shield blazoned:  "Sanguine, divided quarterly fillet saltire Argent, in quadrant one a ram's head couped, in quadrant two a sinister hand couped at wrist holding a shepherd's crook erect, in quadrant three two laurel branches conjoined in base, in quadrant four an unfurled scroll surmounted by a quill pen per bend sinister all in Silver metal and detailed of the field."    Attached above the shield a Maroon scroll inscribed "WESTSIDE HIGH SCHOOL" in Silver letters.  Attached below the shield a bipartite Maroon scroll inscribed "LEADERSHIP" and "CHARACTER" in Silver letters. 

Symbolism
