Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
 On a maroon and scarlet vertical rectangle arched convexly at top and bottom, displaying a 1/16 inch (.16 cm) diagonal black band extending from the upper right to lower left corner of the rectangle edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border, in the upper left a silver gray knight's helmet and in the lower right a silver gray horse's head, both facing right. Attached above rectangle, a maroon scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border inscribed "GRAND FORKS" in silver gray letters.  Attached below the rectangle, a scarlet scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border inscribed "KNIGHT RIDERS" in silver gray letters.  The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Two high schools in Grand Forks, ND make up the Knight Rider Battalion, Grand Forks Central and Red River.  Maroon and silver are the colors of Grand Forks High School and a knight is the school's mascot.  Red and white are the colors of Red River High School and the horse symbolizes the Rough Rider mascot.  Maroon denotes courage and red represents patriotism.  Silver signifies the honor of being a cadet in the Knight Rider Battalion.
