Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
A circular insignia 3 inches (7.62 cm) in diameter overall, consisting of an inner dark blue disc on which is the white head of a bobcat affront with red mouth and dark blue details; around the disc a white band edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) dark blue border, inscribed "BREATHITT" at top and "HIGH SCHOOL" on the bottom in dark blue letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 13 February 1976. It was amended 27 July 1991 to add subdued colors and metric measurements.  (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-216)




Shoulder Loop Insignia


Description/Blazon
A silver metal and enamel device 1-3/32 inches (2.78 cm) in width overall consisting of a rectangle shape displaying a blue disc outlined silver, bearing a silver snarling bobcat's head coup with blue details facing in a 3/4 position enclosed by a blue thin line representing an ideogram shape, all within a blue rectangular scroll inscribed at top "BREATHITT HS," "LOYALTY," at left side, "COURAGE" at bottom and "RESPECT" at right side all in silver letter.

Symbolism
Blue and white are the school colors.  Blue signifies the determination to succeed in all   their endeavors, white is symbolic of purity and truth signifies pride and strength.  The Bobcat is the school's mascot and reflects the pride, honor and loyalty of the cadets' military training.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 19 March 2013.
