Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
A Shield-shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Blue border, blazoned as follows: Azure, two square flanches Tenn, surperimposed by a mullet Azure (Dark Blue) throughout overall issuant from base a cubit arm holding a torch all Argent (Silver Gray), the torch enflamed of the second garnished of the third.  Attached below the shield, a Silver Gray scroll inscribed "CITY UNIVERSITY", in Dark Blue letters.  The overall dimensions are 3-1/4 inches (8.26 cm) in height and 3 inches (7.62 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Blue, orange, silver gray and indigo are the colors of the University. The shape of the shield is taken from the shield on the New York City seal. The five arms of the pall and chevron reversed represent the boroughs of the City. The arm and torch are from the Statue of Liberty.

Description/Blazon
 On a Silver metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Tenn, sem of mullets Argent (Silver Gray), issuant from base the head of the of  the Statue of Liberty affront and looking upward of the last garnished and fimbriated Azure windows Azure (Dark Blue).  Attached below the shield, a Dark Blue scroll, inscribed "CITY UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK" in Silver letters.

Symbolism
Blue, orange, silver gray and indigo are the colors of the University. The shape of the shield is taken from the shield on the New York City seal. The twenty-four stars indicate the Schools that comprise the City University of New York. The Statue of Liberty is a recognized symbol of New York City.
