Description
On a light blue disc with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) light blue border three inches in diameter overall a black wolfs head detailed silver gray between the inscription CREIGHTON at the top and UNIVERSITY at the bottom in ultramarine blue letters 5/16 (.79 cm) inch in height

Symbolism
The black wolf is historically associated with the Jesuit Order, the founders and administrators of Creighton University.  It further suggests the aggressive nature of the Creighton University ROTC cadets in their support of Army activities.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 16 April 1958.  It was amended to change the design and update the description and symbolism of the new design on 10 February 1989, currently amended to update the manufactured drawing on 17 December 2013.  (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-43)

Description
A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield, the dexter two thirds of white enamel on which issuing from chief a chain link supporting a caldron between two wolves facing each other, all of black enamel, the sinister third of blue enamel with three silver color metal bendlets; attached below the shield an arced silver color metal scroll inscribed LEADERSHIP THROUGH KNOWLDEGE in black enamel letters.

Symbolism
The shield is blue, white and black on a silver trim background.  The blue and white represent Creighton University colors and the black of the wolves, the schools relationship with the religious community.  The wolves and the alternating blue and silver wall on the right are from the family coat of arms of the founder of the Jesuit Order, St. Ignatius Loyola, and represents the tie between Creighton University and the Catholic Church, specifically with the Jesuit teaching order.  The motto, LEADERSHIP THROUGH KNOWLEDGE, represents the two basic goals of ROTC.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 14 June 1971.
