Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description
On a green arced shied edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border, a yellow eagle displayed grasping two white lightning bolts in saltire.  Attached above the shield, a green arced scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border inscribed CRANSTON EAST in yellow letters.  The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 3 7/16 inches (8.73 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Green and white are the school colors.  The eagle grasping the thunderbolts symbolizes the instruction of military science and the United States military.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 5 March 1991.  (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-184)

Description
A gold color and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall, consisting of a shield blazoned:  Vert, a torch palewise Or flament Gules between, issuing from chief two lightning bolts chevronwise reversed Argent.   Attached below the shield, a Gold scroll inscribed CRANSTON EAST in Green letters.

Symbolism
Green and white are the school colors.  The torch represents knowledge and suggests the academic discipline gained through the ROTC program.  The lightning bolts suggest thunderbolts The schools nickname.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was originally authorized 5 March 1991.  It was amended to change the colors of the lettering on the motto name of the school and update the description and symbolism of the new design on 26 March 1991.
