Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description
On a yellow vertical rectangle arched at the top and having a blue scroll attached at bottom and inscribed BEARTS in yellow letters and a blue scroll attached above and inscribed HERTFORD CO.  in yellow letters.  Overall below the top scroll two bears each divided vertically blue and yellow descending to base and all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border.  The overall dimensions are 31/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 3 inches (7.62 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Navy blue and gold (yellow) are the school colors.  Blue represents the cadets commitment to truth and honor, and gold suggests the high standards they hold for themselves.  The bear is the schools mascot.

Description
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height overall consisting of a blue disc quartered gold:  in first a gold quill and scroll in saltire, in second a gold scale, in third two gold oak  leaves, in fourth a gold lamp of knowledge. Surrounding the disc a blue scroll inscribed HERTFORD COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL surmounting overall at top of the bear.

Symbolism
 Navy blue and gold are the school colors.  The bear is the schools mascot.  The quill and scroll denote the arts and humanities of the school curriculum, the scale represents the sciences, and the lamp reflects athletics.  The oak leaves symbolize achievement and matriculation with the school, the community, and the country.
