Shoulder Loop Insignia

Description
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height overall consisting of shield blazoned:  Quarterly divided between a cross fillet, quarters one and four Black, two and three Celeste; in the first quadrant a scroll and quill, in the second quadrant hands conjoined, in the third a Florida royal palm tree, and in the fourth a winged foot, all Argent.  Attached above the shield a black scroll  inscribed BOBCATS in Silver letters and a profile of a Silver Gray Bobcat facing sinister with black details. Superimposed at the left and right of the shield two Silver Gray laurel leaves and attached below the shield a light blue scroll inscribed WEST BROWARD in base metal.

Symbolism
Light blue, silver, and black are the school colors. The Bobcat is the schools mascot and symbolizes ferocity and grace. Represented on the shield are the images of academic excellence (scroll and quill), service to community (hands conjoined), majestic flora indigenous to south Florida (Florida Royal Palm), and athletic excellence (winged foot).

Background

 The shoulder loop insignia was approved on 16 January 2014.
