Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description
A green shield-shaped device with a green rectangular scroll attached above the shield, all edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) green border, the overall dimensions are 3 3/8 inches (8.57 cm) in height and 2 1/8 inches( 5.40 cm) in width; issuing from the top of the shield a yellow sun in splendor surmounted by a white representation of a portion of the roof and cupola of the Christopher Wren Building shaded and detailed gray, issuing from base.  On the scroll, a white monogrammed WM".

Symbolism
Green, gold (yellow) and silver (white) are the colors of the College.  The sun in splendor is taken from the arms of the College.  The portion of the roof and cupola of the Christopher Wren Building, the oldest building on the College campus, is indicative of the role of the College-enlightening through education throughout the year.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 25 April 1983 currently amended to update the manufactured drawing on 18 December 2014. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-214)

Description
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 5/32 inches (2.94 cm) overall, consisting of a shield bearing upon a field of sky Azure and base Vert, a representation of the Palace of King William Argent, in chief a sun in its splendor Or; below the shield a white scroll inscribed 16 WILLLIAM AND MARY 93 in gold letters.

Symbolism
Green and white are the colors of the College.  The design elements are taken from the coat of arms of the College.  Attached below the shield is s scroll displaying the name of the college between the numerals 16 on the left and 93 on the right, the charter date of the school.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was originally authorized 29 December 1959.  It was amended to revise the description and add a symbolism for the design on 02 January 1993.
