Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description
On a maroon arched shield with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border, a white bend between a white antique lamp inflamed in dexter base and a white detailed fleur-de-lis in sinister chief.  Attached above the shield a maroon scroll inscribed HILLSIDE in white letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border.  The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 3/4 inches (6.99 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Maroon and white are the colors of the Hillside High School.  The antique lamp represents the knowledge that the cadets receive through training and in school; while the fleur-de-lis is emblematic of the First Years Honors with Distinction.

Description
A gold color metal enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall, consisting of an arched  shield blazoned:  Per pale Argent and Sanguine, a sword point up palewise Or, between an antique lamp inflamed in dexter chief and a fleur-de-lis in sinister chief of the like.  Attached above the shield, a maroon mural crown with white crenellations, and attached below the shield, a maroon scroll inscribed SEMPER PRIMA in gold letters.

Symbolism
Maroon and white are the colors of Hillside High School.  The sword represents the leadership role the cadets play.  The antique lamp stands for knowledge that the cadets receive through training and in school.  The fleur-de-lis is emblematic of First Years Honor with Distinction.  The Latin motto SEMPER PRIMA translates as Always First.
