Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description
A yellow disc edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border between two blue arced scrolls, one attached above the disc and one attached below the disc. The overall dimensions are 4 inches (10.16 cm) in height and 3 inches (7.62 cm) at its widest point; on the yellow disc, a blue demi-dragon.  On the top scroll, the inscription "DREXEL"; on the bottom  scroll, the inscription "UNIVERSITY", all in yellow letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in  height.

Symbolism
 Blue and yellow are the school colors.  The dragon is the  school's mascot.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 20 October 1972.  It was amended to add subdued colors, metric measurements, and update the description and symbolism on 28 February 1992.

Description
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height consisting of a shield blazoned:  Or, a dragon Azure.

Symbolism
Blue and gold (yellow) are the school colors. The dragon is the schools mascot and reflects the mythological beast's benevolent strength and goodness.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was originally authorized 9 April 1932.  The manufacturing drawings for Drexel Universitys SLI were approved 4 January 1993.  It was amended to revise the description of the design on 17 May 1994.
