Shoulder Sleeve Insignia
A shield-shaped item with a horizontal scroll attached above the shield, the overall dimensions 4 inches (10.16 cm) in height and 2 3/4 (6.99 cm) in width consisting of a golden orange shield bearing a green diagonal band, overall a black bucking bronco, all within a 1/8 inches (.32 cm) black border. Attached above the shield a golden orange horizontal scroll inscribed CPSU in black letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height.
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 16 March 1953, on 23 January 1973 it was amended to remove the lettering from the base of the shield which was cancelled to correctly reflect the color of the designation scroll for the SROTC Cadets at CPSU on 7 December 1984. Currently amended to update the manufacturing drawing on 10 March 2014. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-219)
Shoulder Loop Insignia
A gold color metal enamel device 1 3/16 inches in height overall consisting of the shield of the coat of arms above a gold color metal scroll inscribed CAL POLY in green enamel letters.
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 2 May 1973.
