Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description
On a golden yellow disc edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border, the overall diameter 3 inches (7.62 cm), standing in a yellow canoe edged blue, upon blue waves, the stylized figure of Father Marquette facing and pointing to the right, in front of a seated Indian with paddle, facing left, all blue. At top the arched inscription MARQUETTE in blue letters.

Symbolism
Blue and gold are the universitys colors. The design elements are adapted from the seal of the University.

Background
 The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 4 June 1956.

Description
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height overall consisting of a Blue shield blazoned as follows: Azure, between two wolves combatant, a pot suspended from a rod issuant from chief, above a flame all Or. CREST: On a wreath of the colors Or and Azure, standing in a canoe Argent a Jesuit Sable, garnished of the first, pointing to sinister and an Indian paddler Gules. Attached below the shield, a Gold scroll, inscribed in French CITOYEN PATRIOTE in Black letters which translates to Patriotic Citizen in English.
