Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description
On a vertical blue oval 2 7/8 inches (7.30 cm) in height edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) dark gray border, charged with a bear affront passant silver gray detailed dark gray between a blue scroll inscribed HOPI in silver gray letters above and a blue scroll inscribed HIGH SCHOOL in silver gray letters below, all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) dark gray border.

Symbolism
 Royal blue, gray, silver and white are the school colors.  The bear is the Hopi symbol for strength, courage and wisdom.            

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI) originally authorized on 5 April 2001, it is currently being amended to add the ACU color conversions on 31 October 2017. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-622)

Shoulder Loop Insignia

Description
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Argent, a bear rampant Azure, eyed Silver. Attached beneath the shield, a Blue scroll arched toward base and swallow tailed at the ends bearing the inscription NAHONGVITA in Silver letters.

Symbolism

The shoulder loop insignia (SLI) originally authorized on 5 April 2001, it is currently being amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 31 October 2017.
