A metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall, consisting of a green shield divided by a wavy band, overall a torch with a demi-sun above, superimposed at base by a bear ambulant, all silver. Attached below the shield, a green scroll inscribed INGLEWOOD in silver letters.
Green and white are the school colors of Inglewood High School. The torch represents the striving for excellence in scholastic endeavors, topped by a demi-sun in splendor further symbolizing academic achievement. The bear, a symbol on the State flag of California, alludes to the location of the school and further represents the Los Angeles Unified School District. The wavy band symbolizes Inglewoods proximity to the Pacific Ocean.
shoulder loop insignia was originally authorized 27 January 1988. It was amended to correct the change in the colors on 5 May 1988.
