Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description
On a white rectangle arced  at top and bottom with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) green border, the overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width, the profiled head of an Indian Chief Proper wearing a green and white headdress, above a green wreath.  Attached above the rectangle, a white scroll with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) green border inscribed INGLEWOOD in green letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height. 

Symbolism
Green and white are the school colors of Inglewood High School.  The Indian Chief represents the name of the schools athletic teams (the Inglewood Indians).  The wreath represents academic, athletic and military achievement.

Background
he shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 27 January 1988.   It was amended to correct the change in the colors on 5 May 1988, currently amended to include an updated manufactured drawing on 18 April 2014. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-58)

Description
A metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall, consisting of a green shield divided by a wavy band, overall a torch with a demi-sun above, superimposed at base by a bear ambulant, all silver.  Attached below the shield, a green scroll inscribed INGLEWOOD in silver letters.

Symbolism
Green and white are the school colors of Inglewood High School.  The torch represents the striving for excellence in scholastic endeavors, topped by a demi-sun in splendor further symbolizing academic achievement.  The bear, a symbol on the State flag of California, alludes to the location of the school and further represents the Los Angeles Unified School District.  The wavy band symbolizes Inglewoods proximity to the Pacific Ocean.
