Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description
On a red disc edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border, 3 inches (7.62 cm) in diameter overall the bust of a patriot issuant from base white garbed blue with black hat below the inscription J.L. MANN HIGH SCHOOL in white letters.

Symbolism
Red, white and blue are the school colors.  The patriot is the schools mascot.

 The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 28 June 1996.    (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-503)

Description
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1/18 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned as follows: tierced in pairle reversed, Azure, Azure and Argent, in dexter chief a parchment scroll bendwise sinister of the second surmounted by a quill bendwise sinister Or, in sinister chief an atomic energy symbol Silver and in base a garland of laurel Gold.  Attached below the shield a silver color scroll inscribed INTEGRITY AND SCHOLARSHIP in black letters.

Symbolism
Red, white and blue are the school colors.  The parchment scroll and feather symbolize the signing of the Declaration of Independence.  The atomic symbol represents the scientific background of J.L. Mann High School.  The wreath of laurel leaves ascribes the excellence of the cadets in school, community and country.
