Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description
A circular emblem with a flat base 2 3/4 inches in height by 3 inches (7.62 cm) in width overall, colored silver gray, a horses head facing to the right colored crimson with black details and outlines, below the designation TATE HIGH SCHOOL arching  across the upper edge and rotated toward the right in black letters.  All within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) crimson border.

Symbolism
Crimson and gray are the school colors.  The mustang is the schools mascot and describes the cadets commitment to the school and community.

Background
 The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 7 April 1971.  It was amended to change the design and update the description and symbolism of the new design on 7 February 2001. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-618)

Description
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield-shaped emblem blazoned: Argent, a horse forcene reguardant Gules detailed of the first.  Attached to base a scroll Crimson inscribed with the designation JAMES M. TATE HIGH SCHOOL in Silver letters.
