Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description
A green shield with a green rectangular scroll attached above the shield; the overall dimensions 3 3/4 inches (9.53 cm) in height and 2 3/4 inches (6.99 cm) in width.  On the shield, a white rifle and sabre in saltire surmounted by a white star arraswise, ascending, trailing three white vapor trails to base, the shield edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border.  Attached above the shield, a green rectangular scroll inscribed J.F. KENNEDY in white letters.

Symbolism
Green and white are the colors of John F. Kennedy High School.  The crossed rifle and sabre allude to military training.  The star ascending, trailing vapor streams is symbolic of the Missile Age and the geographic location of the school.  It also represents the high quality of academic achievement prevalent at the school.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 20 June 1969 currently amended to update the manufactured drawing on 19 June 2014.  (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-291)

Description
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height overall consisting of a green enamel shield on which is  a rifle and sabre in saltire surmounted by a star arraswise trailing three vapor trails to base, all silver.  Attached above the shield a green enamel rectangular scroll inscribed JF KENNEDY in silver letters.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was originally authorized 7 November 1980 currently amended to update manufacturing drawings on 23 June 2014.
