Shoulder Sleeve Insignia
A white shield with a white stylized scroll attached below all edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) green border, the overall dimensions are 3 inches (7. 62 cm) in height and 3 13/16 inches (9.68 cm) at its widest point; issuing from the dexter side of the shield the white head and neck of a buffalo outlined and detailed green. On the white scroll, the inscription MARSHALL UNIVERSITY in green letters 5/16 inches (.79 cm) in height.
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 24 August 1953. It was amended to change the design and update the description and symbolism of the new design on 13 September 1979.
Shoulder Loop Insignia
A Silver color metal and enamel device consisting of a shield with arced scroll attached below, the overall dimension 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height; on the silver shield issuing from dexter, the head and neck of a green enamel buffalo detailing silver, on a green enamel scroll the inscription DOCTUS ET DUCTOR in silver letters.
The shoulder loop insignia was originally authorized 13 September 1979. It was amended to correct the dimensions on 26 January 1989.
