Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description
On a gray disc shaped embroidered item, a yellow cross bottony throughout, surmounted by a green stylized evergreen tree, all within a green circular designation band, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32cm) green border and inscribed at top "LOYOLA" and below "UNIVERSITY" in silver gray. Overall diameter is 3 inches (7.62cm).

Symbolism
Gray and green are the universitys colors. The cross bottony and evergreen tree are taken from the seal of the university.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 9 February 1982.  It was amended to add subdued colors and metric measurements on 7 November 1991, currently amended to update the manufactured drawings on 8 August 2014. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-79)

Description
A gold colored metal and enamel shield shaped device, 1 3/16 (3.02 cm) in height overall blazoned as follows: Vert (Irish Green), a bend Argent (Silver Gray). CREST: a greyhound courant Argent (Silver Gray).  Attached below the shield, a silver scroll, coming to a downward point in the center inscribed LOYOLA UNIVERSITY in Green letters.  

Symbolism
Gray and green are the universitys colors. The bend denotes protection. The greyhound is the schools mascot.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was originally authorized 17 October 1952.  It was amended to change the size of the insignia to 1 3/16 inches in height on 16 March 1982.
