Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

A shield edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border 3 1/4 inches (8.26 cm) in height by 3 inches (7.62 cm) in width blazoned. Celeste, third quarter Sable a bar dancetty enhanced Argent debruised by a point dancetty of three, the centermost enhanced and couped Or charged with an arrowhead point up of the second; issuant form chief a demi-bezant between two rays fesswise of the like.


Symbolism
The sunburst in a blue sky above the stylized four sacred mountains, white, blue, yellow and black are symbols taken from the great seal of the Navajo nation.  The black arrowhead, also taken form the great seal symbolizes the cadets willingness to defend school, nation and country.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 14 October 1996, currently amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 19 May 2015.  (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-528)

Description

A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height and width consisting of a turquoise diamond shaped field.  On the field, a diving bald eagle, body and legs black, head; tail and talons silver; to the eagles right, the inscription PIŇON in silver letters        


Symbolism
Turquoise, silver and black are the school colors.  The bald eagle represents a sacred tradition within the Navajo nation, and reflects the cadets dedication to school, nation and country.

The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 14 October 1996, currently amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 19 May 2015.
